Maxwell, New Mexico

Maxwell New is a very small town south of Raton.  Maxwell’s first post office was established in 1879, but I have no idea if any of Maxwell’s current structures date to that era.

The one downtown building of prominence is the 1909 Maxwell Bank Building.

The area around Maxwell is primarily farm and ranch land.

Maxwell is also home to the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, and the Stubblefield Reservoir is nearby.
